it's good to be near the ocean again

april is poetry month, so as i packed for my move up here to canada, deciding what books i needed to bring, i made sure to choose one of poetry. i brought the pablo neruda book given to me last summer. i read a handful of poems this morning, sitting on the couch with a mug of tea, next to the wood stove.
his poems make me wish i knew spanish:

inclinado en las tardes tiro mis tristes redes
a tus ojos oceanicos

leaning into the evening i throw my sad nets
to your ocean eyes

-twenty love poems: 7

  1. they do the same to me. (make me wish i actually knew spanish.) i have never forgotten this piece of one: "y yo con cielo y lira, en la luz de lo que amo..." and i with sky and poetry, in the light of all i love. but it IS better in spanish.
